Kenneth L. Pate, 80, of Natrona Heights passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 12, 2026. A son to the late Alexander and Betty (Easton) Pate, he was born on October 4, 1945, in New Kensington.Ken graduated from Springdale High School in 1963 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1964. He entered boot camp at Fort Benning, GA in 1965. Following basic training, Ken was stationed overseas at Camp Radcliff (AKA The Golf Course) Air Based located in An Khe, Binh Dinh Province, Republic of Vietnam. From 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1967, he served as a UH-1 helicopter crew chief in B Company 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion 1st Calvary Division Airmobile.Following his courageous tour of duty, Ken returned home and began a 30-year career at Allegheny Ludlum. After his retirement, Ken stayed active, becoming a Deputy Waterways Conservation Officer with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. He later took up golf, where he honed his skills at Brackenridge Heights Country Club and Hillcrest Country Club. Above all, Ken will be remembered for the loving husband, father, and grandfather that he was.Kenneth is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sybil Welch Pate; son, Kenneth Pate; daughter, Amy (Jeffrey) Hunter; grandson, Ryan Pate; brothers, Alan (Susie) Pate and Raymond (Janet) Pate; and sister, Linda (Robert) McDowell; as well as many nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in Ken’s name to The Wounded Warrior Project, www.Wounded Warrior Project.According to his wishes, all services for Kenneth will be private.
