George P. Seckar, 85, of Lower Burrell passed away Monday, September 7, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Harrison Twp. to the late George and Mary (Gaydac) Seckar of Tarentum. George and Linda lived the past 57 years in Lower Burrell. George graduated from Tarentum High School in 1959, Thiel College in 1963 with a degree in mathematics, and received his masters in education from Indiana University of Pa. in 1965.
George taught mathematics at Tarentum High School from 1963-1965 and at Springdale High School from 1965 until his retirement in 1998. George was of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gold, and paying euchre. George was a member of the Elks, Eagles, and Masonic Lodge all of Tarentum. However, football was his game. He played, coached, and refereed the game he loved.
George is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda (Grossman) Seckar, sons, Paul (Michele) Seckar of Great Falls, VA, Mark (Debbie) Seckar of Cecil Twp., and Daniel and fiancee (Shannon Cimarolli) Seckar of Allegheny Twp. Also surviving are his granddaughters Tyler, Devin, Emily, and Erica and grandson, Nick Seckar.
